Convert 3MF to STL
Turn the final geometry in a 3MF model into a binary STL without sending the file anywhere.
Private by design. Your files are processed locally in your browser and are not uploaded to our servers.
STL stores geometry only. Colors, materials, textures and other 3MF metadata are not preserved.
Your 3D preview will appear here.
How it works
How to convert 3MF to STL
Use the 3MF to STL converter when you need the model's final surface geometry in a simpler format. The file stays on your device throughout the conversion.
- 1Upload a 3MF file
Choose a model up to 50 MB from your device.
- 2Inspect the geometry
IntoSTL combines the model's build items and transforms, then shows the STL geometry in 3D.
- 3Download the STL
Save one binary STL containing the final transformed geometry.
Conversion details
What is preserved when converting 3MF to STL?
The validated conversion path preserves the final mesh geometry. Multiple build items are included, and their supported transforms are applied to the output vertices so their final positions are represented in the STL.
The preview shows this combined, transformed geometry before download. The binary STL then stores the resulting triangles as one geometry file.
Format limits
What 3MF data STL cannot keep
STL stores surface triangles, so it cannot preserve 3MF colors, materials, textures or document metadata. These details are omitted rather than approximated or reconstructed.
If those richer properties matter to the next stage of your workflow, keep the original 3MF alongside the converted STL.
Compatibility
Why convert 3MF to STL?
3MF can store richer printing information, while STL is a simpler geometry format supported by a broad range of slicers, viewers and older workflows. That can be useful when the next application accepts STL but not 3MF.
Current slicer workflows such as OrcaSlicer, PrusaSlicer and Bambu Studio can work with modern formats, but a particular exchange step or older tool may still require STL. Convert only when surface geometry is what the destination needs.
Common questions
3MF to STL FAQ
Are 3MF build transforms preserved in the STL?
Yes. The validated conversion applies supported build-item transforms so the STL contains the final positioned geometry.
Will the converted STL keep colors and materials?
No. STL stores surface geometry only, so colors, materials, textures and other 3MF metadata are not included.
Does IntoSTL upload my 3MF file?
No. The file is read and converted locally in your browser and is not sent to an IntoSTL server.
When is STL useful for compatibility?
STL is useful when a slicer, viewer or older 3D-printing application expects surface geometry in STL format.
